Sotomayor- Not Just a Move to the Left- a Move Toward a Lack of Civility
May 26, 2009 on 9:36 pm | In National Political, Uncategorized | No CommentsWe Know who Obama is now. We know his brand of political gamesmanship. Sotomayor is just what he wants- someone who will allow her decisions to be guided by their shared ultra-left agenda and, someone who, I suspect, will dramatically alter the civility and discretion of the Court, as it has existed until now despite the political leanings of any Justice. Brace yourselves for a Justice who will make heretofore dignified disagreements about law into raucous personal disputes… between good and evil-”social compassion” and evil. Prepare for language that is more volitle and unrefined. Prepare for a Justice who will tell tales out of chambers and go on “The View” to disparage Clarence Thomas… – SJM
Obama Ushers in an Age of Science Unfettered by Morality
March 10, 2009 on 8:33 pm | In Uncategorized | No CommentsI’m beginning to learn how to speak Obamanese. It isn’t easy. The definitions of words are mercurial and seem to mold themselves to any given situation. A case in point- Obama’s discourse on opening the floodgates of embryonic stem cell usage. Between the self-serving slaps at Bush, Obama eloquently discussed the need for science to function without political influence. What does that mean? This is a complex issue that has only caused confusion in political contexts. The ban on federal funding for such usage was born out of investigations into medical ethics and social mores. Oh- now I get it. Obama is using his verbal substitution technique. Whenever he says the word “political” he means “morality”. That’s understandable. The word morality is not a popular one in the White House these days.
My ability to speak Obamanese came in handy, also, when the President, appeared to deny any future for cloning. He said, “…and we will ensure that our government never opens the door to the use of cloning for human reproduction.” On the face I’ll admit that sounds good. Many reputable news sources are boasting headlines that claim Obama has completely shut the door on cloning. Oh, if only they spoke Obamanese. They would not be so ready to make such a determination. He only promised that the government would not open the door, he certainly did not say that government would stop a private entity from opening that door or that the government would not then walk through it. He also delineated cloning as for human reproduction. In Obamanese that means that cloning for other, slightly varied, purposes would be acceptable. Cloning strictly for the intention of pursuing research and not to produce a person, or cloning for the purpose producing organs for transplant and not for the purpose of reproduction to produce a person, would both be acceptable, if the policy is translated from its original language.
In addition to the hocus-pocus of the skillful use of Obamanese, the Obama gang distracted with the manipulative use of disease-stricken people and their families. Unseemly at best- and at its worst- the grossly unfair implication that embryonic stem cell opponents don’t care about their plight and that research was stopped dead in its tracks by the Bush ban. Patently untrue on both counts.
Yes, this is a complex topic. The first step to understanding what’s happening is to learn the slick language of illusion-Obamanese.
On The Blackford Approach
March 6, 2009 on 12:32 am | In Uncategorized | No CommentsBy Sheila J. Murphy, Editor, The Cool Conservative web magazine
In his column, The Blackford Approach, in the latest issue of The Cool Conservative web magazine, my friend, D.L. Blackford has approached the Limbaugh Affair with his usual insightful directness. I don’t disagree with much in his substance here as much as the context. Blackford says Limbaugh is not the leader of the Party- it is Mitt Romney. I can’t argue with a word he says about Romney. He is an exceptional leader and after his CPAC victory- the current front runner. What bothers me is that we feel like it has to be a contest between Steele and Rush or Rush and Romney, etc. That was the design of this Obama gang maneuver. We must not fall for it. Rush has NEVER expressed the slightest desire to be the head of the Party so there is no point in saying why he shouldn’t be. He didn’t instigate a competition between Himself and Romney. I think Rush really likes Romney and would be happy to see him take an even stronger leadership role. And from what I know of Mitt he wouldn’t want to see the head of the RNC weakened and ineffective, either. The point is that there is a need for a leadershipp TEAM- plenty of work to go around for an RNC Chairman, and the leading Presidential hopeful and the nation’s top broadcaster. They should each lead in their own way- all towards a united goal. This idea that there is only one king of the Hill is only in the mind of Rahm Emanuel. Just wanted to make this distinction- Blackford, buddy, you keep calling ‘em as you see ‘em and we’ll all keep reading.
