Death Penalty in Kansas
January 30, 2010 on 1:04 pm | In Culture Scene, National Political | No CommentsI am solidly pro-life but I also believe that there are times when the death penalty is called for to protect the public. I think Scott Roeder shoiuld have gotten the penalty not just for the cold-blooded execution of Dr, Tiller the Baby Killer (must admit he was evil) but also because someone so willing to disregard the law with no remorse such as Roeder is a danger. He won’t get the death penalty though. In Kansas only fetuses get the death sentence.

Patrick Kennedy Denied Communion
November 23, 2009 on 4:22 pm | In Culture Scene, National Political | No CommentsRep. Patrick Kennedy wa urged by his Bishop not to take Communion because of Kennedy’s very public support of abortion, a practice that is clearly opposed in Catholic Church Doctrine. Defenders of Kennedy say that the Bishop should not have castigated the son of the late Ted Kennedy in public. Others say his stands in the Congress should impact his personal, religious life. I say BS to both.
Kennedy was not forced into public life, he sought it aggressively. He’s not some littlebookkeeper who whispered his support of abortion to some friend and then finds himself in front of the congregation. Patrick Kennedy expended alot of money, effort and power to ensure that his opinions and statements would be of public interest. We cannot separate our work lives from our moral or spiritual selves. We all express ourselves through our jobs. A mafia hitman cannot go to Church and say that he obeys “Do not Kill” outside of his job. Kennedy cannot draw such a line either. He promotes abortion through his professional actions. He must face the consequences. Good for Bishop Tobin!-sjm
Sarah had Letterman’s Number All Along!
October 4, 2009 on 2:31 am | In Culture Scene, National Political | No CommentsConsidering revelations about David Letterman, suddenly his almost inexplicable
hatred of Sarah Palin seems quite expalainable. A powerful man who uses his underlings for sex does not respect women. A man who is supposedly committed to the mother of his child, although he hasn’t married her, and cheats on her repeatedly, is not a moral man. Men like that have a clear idea as to what women are “good for” and it is nothing intellectual. Enter someone like Sarah Palin- a strong woman. A woman who would NOT let her boss use her the way Letterman used his employees- a woman with a strong marriage and a strong family- a woman who is open about her strong moral code. A man like Letterman cannot stand such a women. She reminds him of what he is. She makes him uncomfatable. She makes him squirm. Letterman would have us believe his hatred of Palin is political but obviously not.
Palin stated that she did not want her preteen daughter anywhere near David Letterman, a man who would think sex with a young girl was acceptable fodder for jokes, I’ll admit at the time and before we knew what we now do of Letterman. I thought Sarah might have overreacted. Now I see that Sarah Palin is actually quite an astute judge of character. She was totally right about Letterman. Now we all see this powerful man who uses his female employees for sex. We all see this sneering, leering “dirty old man” and we see his nastiness is not an act. Sarah was miles ahead of the rest of us.- sjm
CSINY Plot Is a Promo for ObamaCare: Disappointing!
October 2, 2009 on 4:37 pm | In Culture Scene, National Political | No CommentsLaw & Order has not been my only disappointment in TV Town. CSI NY relly let me down. I have been a fan of the show and the star and producer Gary Sinese, loyal supporter of American troops. But the other night, what started out as an intriguing plot evolved into an unbelievable sermon for ObamaCare. Give me a break! The guy, who invented the GPS ran out of benefits right in the middle of his treatment for lung cancer and was thrown out without any care. I don’t think that happens. And even if it did, it looked like he would have been eligible for Medicare or Medicaid. But no, he was dying without care at the hands of the horrible American health system. Oh dear- if only we’d had ObamaCare for all, this never would have happened!!!! Imagine that this GPS- inventing genius had enough money to live in a large house using all kinds of really expensive technical equipment to kill with brilliant plans those he blames for his terminal condition- yet he didn’t have enough intelligence to find a medical program that he could enter. He didn’t have enough money to pay for any care himself. He couldn’t use his computer genius in exchange for care at a faciltity- nope- nothing he could do but kill. Right. And even though Sinese’s character gave him a little lecture about contacting his Congressman with healthcare complaints instead of murdering, the manipulative damage was done. Sinese is a disappointment. -sjm
Law and Order Plot Irresponsible When We’re Still at War!
October 2, 2009 on 4:33 pm | In Culture Scene, National Political | 1 CommentWhen Law and Order premiered the other day it led with it’s liberal chin, with DA Jack pursuing the Bush administration for TORTURING prisoners. Some expressed surprise that L&O went so anti-USA. It was not really such a total shock. Producer and ultr-ultra leftist Producer Dick Wolf has slipped in as many diggs as he could against conservatives and Republicans through the years. But this- this- is the straw that broke the camel’s back. I’ve had it. This time, I’m not just mad for a while- I’m done. It is because of the end result of this action. It will actually cost American lives. No, I am not being a drama queen. Dick Wolf and Eric Houlder and their whole merry little peacnick bunch will eventually cost innocent American lives. I do not consider waterboarding torture, but even if you do, it has been handled. But people like Wolf and the Attorney General won’t let it be handled. And by inflaming this issue over and over they are making it impossible for our interrogators to actually obtain any information now. Troops in need of vital information that cannot be obtained will eventually die because of it. Civilians will be lost in terrorist attacks because no advance intelligence could be obtained.
To hell with Law and Order. I’m a little ashamed of anybody who continues to watch.-sjm
Hollywood/Left Support of Polanski Raises Questions
September 29, 2009 on 12:33 am | In Culture Scene, National Political | No CommentsAs the liberal community and Hollywood left close ranks around pedophile Polanski we must wonder what their real message is. Are these upright citizens telling us that crimes involving sex are not crimes or is just sex crimes involving minors that are not crimes? Or are they saying that the passage of time is a substitute for justice? Is it that when someone is apprehended after some time, they should escape justice because it all “happened a long time ago”? Or are they telling us that Roman Polanski is one of their own and therefore exempt from standards that apply to the “little people”? Maybe that’s it. The Hollywood leftists can routinely rake in millions upon millions for comparatively little work, while they condemn Wall Street executives for getting high salaries. Hollywood leftists can tear Sarah Palin to pieces for giving birth to a downs syndrome baby but so compassionately defend Polanski for drugging and raping a child. Has their obsession with ego finally robbed these people of all moral judgment? And what do we make of Poland and France and their efforts to see this child rapist escape his punishment? Is it because they are impressedby celebrity status or because pedophilia is supported in their nations?- Kip Murphy
Hymns to Obama Just Part of a Pattern
September 26, 2009 on 3:47 am | In Culture Scene, National Political | No CommentsThe latest propaganda foray into America’s schools only confirms what we know. The story of stuff confirms that we have ALL –parents and taxpayers been asleep at the wheel for a long, long time. We must Wake up and assert our authority as a society and our influence over the education of our children.
The children singing quasi-religious hymns to Obama tells us something else. There is a definable effort going on right now to transfer patriotic devotion away from flag and country to the individual persona of the President. The celebrity video claiming to pledge allegiance to be a servant not to their country but to the President. The President’s speech to all students with accompanying projects. Yes, people say we have nothing to fear because his speech was rath bland and unobjectionable. That means nothing to me. I would like to see what he intended to say before the vigilant caught him with his hand in the propaganda jar.
If You Start to Forget Who we Can Blame- turn on Your TV
September 26, 2009 on 3:45 am | In Culture Scene, National Political | No CommentsTake a moment to remember who to blame for the mess we’re in. – More than ruthless Dems or the inept campaign of the GOP, the blame lies with CNN, MSNBC, CBS, NBC and ABC. They marketed their candidate all day every day until the election and since then, they’ve marketed Obama’s agenda to us. They’ve been aggressive and they’ve been thorough. They bear more of a burden of responsibility than any other entity for the death of the American Dream. NEVER forget it.
Help us rename the “Mainstream Media”
September 17, 2009 on 4:55 am | In Culture Scene, National Political | No CommentsRegular readers know that we have fought a battle against the term “Mainstream Media”. It’s way too benign and implies that the ideas the major networks and large newspapers advance are in the mainstream of public thought. We’ve been calling them the old, establishment media- but they’ve outgrown the niceness of that lable.
They refuse to cover Van Jones honestly. They refuse to cover the ACORN scandal. They report the Joe Wilson incident with as much malice as possible- and now- now they offer their Sunday morning news shows to him for propaganda purposes. Until this man came to the White House and until this level of corruption overtook the press, you would have had to travel to Cuba to see the President’s pre-packaged proaganda on every channel.
OK. We need a new Name- Pravda USA or TASS America? What do you think?- sjm
Nice Job, Johanns- We’ve Got Another Case for You
September 17, 2009 on 4:22 am | In Culture Scene, National Political, Nebraska Political | No CommentsNebrasaka Senator Mike Johanns hit a homerun when he introduced legislation to deny funding to ACORN. We’re hoping he’ll take the same kind of leadership in discovering how many criminal enterprises this group has nurtured in the past. Not one ACORN employee expressed even the slightest surprise at being asked to offer counsel and support to a child prostitution ring. Obviously, it ’s not the first time they’ve encountered such situations. If we have a real, honest investigation, how many brothels or drug houses will we find thriving thanks to ACORN? We hope the Senator will push for inquiry. SJM
