Obama: O-Blame-A!
November 24, 2009 on 2:54 pm | In Uncategorized | No CommentsDid you notice that the President recently said That he won’t rest until BUSINESSES do their part- until BUSINESSES start hiring people- until BUSINESSES trust the economy… In other words, he won’t rest until all economic blame is shifted from him to America’s businesses- even as he is systematically dismantling.
Will it Be AMBASSADOR Nelson?
November 23, 2009 on 4:55 pm | In Uncategorized | No CommentsThe Devil Came Down to DC and many soul hath been bartered away… For some it took armtwisting: “Play Ball with Harry Reid or you’ll never be re-elected” For some promises: “We’ll make SURE you are re-elected or we’ll get a gold-plated pork barrell worth hundreds of millions for your state.” For Ben Nelson, it may have been the promise of a professional future- at least that is what we are hearing. Apparently there are rumblings that because playing ball with his fellow Democrats could result in his political suicide for Nelson, he’ll be rewarded with a nice job in the Administration- something in a Czarship or Cabinet post but most likely an Ambassadorship.- sjm
Scary Scenario: Nuclear Attack on US City
November 23, 2009 on 4:33 pm | In Uncategorized | No CommentsI saw a documentary called “Day After Disaster”. It was about the major security threat of terrorists attacking Washington DC woth a nuclear suitcase bomb. The film concentrated on response to the event. They stated that there would be an automatic assumptionthat there was a second bomb and a major goal would be to find it.
All I could see were our intelligence people mirandizing culprits, and asking them the most benign questions in the presence of their ACLU lawyers… This documentary had great effects and the dramatized death and destruction was incredible, but nothing was more frightenening than the thought of how how Houlder and Obama are rendering us defenseless against our enemies
Patrick Kennedy Denied Communion
November 23, 2009 on 4:22 pm | In Culture Scene, National Political | No CommentsRep. Patrick Kennedy wa urged by his Bishop not to take Communion because of Kennedy’s very public support of abortion, a practice that is clearly opposed in Catholic Church Doctrine. Defenders of Kennedy say that the Bishop should not have castigated the son of the late Ted Kennedy in public. Others say his stands in the Congress should impact his personal, religious life. I say BS to both.
Kennedy was not forced into public life, he sought it aggressively. He’s not some littlebookkeeper who whispered his support of abortion to some friend and then finds himself in front of the congregation. Patrick Kennedy expended alot of money, effort and power to ensure that his opinions and statements would be of public interest. We cannot separate our work lives from our moral or spiritual selves. We all express ourselves through our jobs. A mafia hitman cannot go to Church and say that he obeys “Do not Kill” outside of his job. Kennedy cannot draw such a line either. He promotes abortion through his professional actions. He must face the consequences. Good for Bishop Tobin!-sjm
The Palin Situation Proves It- Liberals are Stupid.
November 23, 2009 on 4:07 pm | In Uncategorized | No CommentsSarah Palin. The Left demeans her. They belittle her. They insult her. They do it all very loudly and in front of cameras. If they were smart AT ALL, they’d just stop talking about her. Apparently they are not for they make their opposition to her more vocal and emotional by the moment. Why do they fear this woman so much. They hate her for multiple reasons. They fear her because she does not fear them- sjm
Debate Vote Not Just a “Procedural”- This Is Not Just Any Bill
November 20, 2009 on 9:17 pm | In National Political | No CommentsUnder usual circumstances I encourage debate. In fact I’ll sell concessions and bring in cheerleaders. However, these are not usual circumstances. In our Congress these are remarkable times. One Party not just has a majority but a stranglehold and their leadership (eg. Pelosi & Reid) has acted with unprecedented ruthlessness and corruption. Add to that a Bill that is more than cumbersome- it is a gargantuan mess. The premise that this Bill could be saved with ammendment is pure fantasy. It is too rotten in its basic premise and concealing far too many bear traps for any number of ammendments to transform it to good legislation. You can give a hundred Senators all day to add flavorings to a cup of poison but at the end of the day it is still poison.
We MUST be clear this has nothing to do with debate. This vote is merely another step in the Democrat Shell Game. It is simply another step in bringing their Frankenstein to life.- sjm
Nelson Thinks He Can Please Both Sides…
November 20, 2009 on 7:18 pm | In National Political, Nebraska Political, Uncategorized | No CommentsIf you’ve followed Ben Nelson (D-NE) at all you know he’s a pro at pretending to be a Republican. He thinks he can get away with it with ObamaCare by voting for debate and then “No” later. Unfortunately for Ben, voters have not only become well-informed but more cynical. They will see through this weak ploy. He won’t be able to say “I didn’t commit the robbery because I was only driving the getaway car.” or “I didn’t join in with the Manson Family, I only unlocked the doors for them.” Ben’s special brand of innocence won’t play this time. He’s acting like a loyal Reid Democrat in playing a key role in advancing a nanystate monstrosity that Nebraskans don’t want. His political fate is sealed.- sjm

The Ballad of Bloggers Row
November 10, 2009 on 7:23 pm | In Iowa Political, National Political | No CommentsThe Ballad of Bloggers Row
We came from distant outposts to be at Bloggers Row
And sat with pens already or laptop screens aglow
Those who would be Governor would come as we were told
So we wrote up pithy questions to elicit words of gold
And we waited and we waited and then we waited more
While some other candidates made the trip across the floor
But those who would be Governor? Never-not a one
Did we look foreboding? Didn’t we look fun?
Why did those six avoid us? I guess we’ll never know
Many a compelling insight lay abandoned…

Hungry Politicos Turn Eyes to Iowa
November 10, 2009 on 7:19 pm | In Iowa Political, National Political | No CommentsOne of the best things about being a political observer in the State of Iowa is the National impact of intra-state and intra-Party matters. Case in point- the RPI’s Leadership for Iowa event in Des Moines Saturday night. I was invited to join Bloggers Row at the event and I do have a few insights to share. Readers from all quarters of the USA can find in Iowa valuable clues in the Treasure Hunt for the Reaganesque Hero who will save the day, the country and the world in 2012. I refer not only to the words of Presidential hopeful of Tim Pawlenty, event keynoter. Public opinion and attitude in Iowa will have a crucial role in that Presidential Treasure Hunt and how voters relate to gubernatorial, congressional and senatorial candidates will give us the clues we seek.
Pawlenty…
Pawlenty’s presentation was solid. He had a pleasant demeanor and seemed cool in the heat of the spotlight. His humor attempts were a bit stilted- a more natural approach should come in time. He hit all the major notes in the conservative scale and did seem to be right on key. I was pleased to see that. I understood his motivation for ending his remarks in a brief sermonette about the importance of Party unity following disputed Primaries. Any Republican activist has probably had occasion to preach such words but I think that leaving them as the final impression in Iowa may not have been his wisest choice. If Governor Pawlenty wants to be the next Party Chairman, the robes of a McCainlike peacemaker might be the perfect wardrobe choice. But if Governor Pawlenty wants to be considered for the job of President, he’d better start wearing the garb of a warrior. Americans are scared and Republicans are no different. They want a fire-breathing, powerful, persuasive, take-no-prisoners leader who speaks with a conviction that has no sign of faltering or weakness. Pawlenty certainly did not strike out, but he’ll have to grasp this if he wants to hit a home run on his next visit.
The Invisible Candidates
We bloggers had hoped to have a few moments with the gubernatorial hopefuls at Leadership for Iowa. It was somewhat disappointing that the candidates did not materialize (see the turgid but amusing Ballad of Bloggers Row following). Each candidate did address the crowd. One thing is clear- all the trains are headed to the same depot: The lower-taxes-less-government-growth-through-free-enterprise-conservative-social-values one. There are some differences in the route each would take, but in lieu of probing interviews, I’ll just assess the persona of each, as he appeared to me:
Rants: The Feisty, Fearless Pragmatist
Roberts: Dignified Conservative Leader
Fong: Business and Economy Powerhouse
Branstad: Iowa’s Seasoned Problem Solver
Vander Plaats: Christian/Conservative Firebrand
Behn: Solid, Main Street Conservative
I did have the opportunity to interview some congressional and State office candidates. Comments on those will appear in the next few days.- Sheila Murphy, Ed. www.thecoolconservative.com
The Massacre at Fort Hood has Obama Teetering
November 10, 2009 on 7:13 pm | In National Political | No CommentsObama, in his most insulting arrogance, cautions all the rest of us not to jump to conclusions. Clearly, he’s the one who already had. He’d already assumed that his election promises to the Muslim world would be in peril if the world understood who Hasan really was. So fearful was he that Muslim leaders would object if the spectre of domestic terrorism were introduced, that he instantly jumped to the conclusion that it was stress that ignited the fuse. It’s sad really. The kind of President who would leave his wife behind everytime he visits a Muslim land- the kind of President who’d grow a pencil thin moustache when hen was in a Muslim land- all so that he would display acceptable Muslim male behavior, is not the kind of President who can even handle the realities of a jihadist terrorist. He will do everything he can to sweep reality under the carpet. The sad part is that he doesn’t need to. Legitimate Muslims never support the actions of terrorists. But Obama will bury it like a bone in the garden and then beg like a puppy for a pat on the head from the Muslim world.- Sheila Murphy, Ed. wwww.thecoolconservative.com
