Now you know why Obama Wasn’t “Interested in Reinstating Fairness Doctrine”

The Cool Conservative was proud to be among the first to offer tips to understanding ObamaSpeak. As we’ve told you, when he says “he’s not interested in” this or that, listeners are supposed to interpret that as opposition. When candidate Obama said he had “no particular interest in reinstating the fairness doctine”, the dewy-eyed Kathleen Parkers and the oh-so-determined-to-be-impartial Bill OReilley’s eagerly asserted that obama would govern from the center and not declare war on conservative talk radio.

Now that Obama has established Mark Lloyd as his FCC diversity Czar, even the most sweetly naive must see the truth. Candidate Obama told us he wasn’t interested in The Fairness Doctrine because he knew then that he would not need it to destroy America’s right-leaning talk show iondustry. Another strategy was already inplay.

In 2006 Obama’s pal Lloyd had already published a book- that’s right published and open for the public- even Obama to read. Entitled Prologue to a Farce: Communications and Democracy. Not to get into details, Lloyd outlines his plans to decimate Limbaugh and his ilk through FCC machinations. Obama knew exactly how he’d dismantle talk radio. It must have given him a chuckle to hear so many anchors and pundits say that he didn’t support the Fairness Doctrine. There’s a link to a good article on this on our daily Fix Page.-sjm www.thecoolconservative.com

Reconsidering My Ridicule

August 14, 2009 on 5:24 am | In National Political | No Comments

I was among the many who ridiculed George Bush for his “Compasionate Conservative” label. I found it a little cloying and a little whimpy. In retrospect, I was rash. Now a new day has dawned at the White House and suddenly I am beginning to see what G W was talking about.

I suspected that candidate Obama was cold- his attitude toward his relatives- brothers in trouble abroad- an elderly aunt living in a hovel here. Even the tone in his voice when he spoke of his grandmother was chillingly lacking. Yet, I told myself, “he’s compartmentalizing. He’s overwhelmed by the campaign.”

I no longer think that. His attitude toward humanity is indeed cold and utilitarian. His glib folksiness does not conceal this. He is goal-driven and his policies reflectan undaunting drive that humanity’s value is reflected solely in any human’s contribution toward achievement of his goals. Take away someone’s car dealership- destroy their liife and livelihhood. Give it to someone else- selected by one of your cronies. No expression of concern or regret. The words he uses, his tone of voice and guestures, the background and temprament of the people around him (not to mention the suggestion of so-called death panels) all indicate the cold dispassionate liberal utilitarian that he is.

Conservatives who do not wait for government to care for their fellow man do care and do give. The paradigm has reversed on its axis. Today, infants, born and unborn, the handicapped, the disabled, chronically ill and the elderly must turn to conservatives for compassion.- sjm

Hillary Surprises

August 13, 2009 on 3:41 pm | In National Political | No Comments

I never expected to like Hillary Clinton. I did not expect her appointment as Secretary of State to change her- to make her nice or to make her conservative. Idid, however, expect her to acquit the office as a professional. In the last two days, she’s been anything but. First, as understandable as her anger may have been about the question as to what her husband thought, her reaction was amateurish. Cultures vary- especially in the area of gender equality. Clinton, could have and should have made her point without offending another culture. Secondly, her remarks comparing the contested US election of 2000 to the perenially corrupt and violent practices that envelop Nigerian elections is something I’d expect out of a college student. Not to offend all college students, I mean one so thin-skinned and immature that they can’t pass up an opportunity to “zing” a rival. It was unforgiveable for America’s top diplomat to embarass our nation in such a way. To forgetthat she was speaking not as a petulant Democrat but as the person charged with maintainig our national dignity and image is extremely unprofessional. She has atendency to self-destruct. Brace yourselves. Vesuvius could be coming.-sjm

Funny Specter

August 13, 2009 on 3:21 pm | In National Political | No Comments

I had to laugh when Sen. Specter told his Town Hall attendees that he would not support health care legislation that gave free care to illegal aliens. Of course he could say that with that snake-like smile of his. He knows that he and his liberal ilk will have found a way to “legalize” all those potential Democrats long before any of the Bill’s healthcare is actually administered to the illegals in 2013.- km

Town Halls About Much More

August 13, 2009 on 3:15 pm | In Uncategorized | No Comments

The current rash of spirited Town Hall meetings is not about the public organizing of a handful of violent and imbalanced extremists as the Administration and establishment media would have us think. Nor are these happenings about Health care alone. More of us need to point out that the anger and angst of the citizenry has been six months in production. People are rebeling against the way the President does things as much as what he does. They have been driven to thier limits by the annoyingly cute word games Obama plays to get his way. They are infuriated by the obvious “let’s create a crisis” strategy already run into the ground by Team Obama. They are angry about false deadlines that are obviously designed to control, manipulate and silence the people. Pelosi, Reid and the Democrat Congressional leadership had planned Health Care to have been pushed through and voted on before voters knew what was happening to them- before they had a chance to speak out. After the Stimulus and Omnibus, Citizens are livid about convoluted legislation that is so blatantly designed to deceive them. Health Care Reform is imminently important, yes, but it is also the straw that is breaking the camel’s back. Unfortunately, our poor camel will be among those unable to get care.

Iraq Looks Smarter and Smarter

August 13, 2009 on 2:55 pm | In National Political | No Comments

Candidate Obama thought he was being brilliant. He talked the war in Iraq down- as far down as he could to insult President Bush and any other nearby Republicans. This made him much brownie points with his peacenik constituents. Simultaneously, heTalked the war in Afghanistan up- as far up as he could. This allowed weak willed and dewey-eyed moderates and “conservatives” to be comforted by the fact that Obama would be a “manly” president- capaable of fighting a war if needed.

Now Obama is getting his dearest wish and it is pretty obviousthat he only said all that “Afghanistan stuff” because it sounded good on the campaign trail. Now he must be realizing why Bush chose Iraq as the place to make a decisive strike against Al Qaeda and Jihadists. Bush knew that Iraq was already civilized and developed enough to readilly support democracy- Afghanistan isn’t. And Bush knew that aTHRIVING democracy in the area would encourage democracy elsewhere in the region. Bush knew that Iraq was not the only place in the region in which terrorists were recruited and trained but he knew that a war against them in the streets of Iraq was winnable while a war against them in the hostile and completely inhospitable terrain of Afghanistan would be much more costly in American lives and it would be much more difficult to produce quantifiable results. Bush knew but Obama was only concerned with sound bites. Today Obama has his “good war” in Afghanistan. He’ll run for the hills soon. Iraq will look smarter and smarter. The opposite will prove to be true for the President.- sjm
