Another Shocking Assault on Free Expression

June 18, 2009 on 2:04 pm | In National Political | No Comments

The Las Vegas Review-Journal Newspaper has been served with a SUBPOENA by an Assistant District Attorney demanding that the paper turn over personal information about anonymous “commenter” to a story involving a case he is prosecuting. The subpoena does not originally single out specific comments. That has changed now. The Feds are going after 2 specific writers. One that insulted the prosecutor- but did not threaten him and another that said the jurors should be hung. My personal opinion is that this is colorful hyperbole and not a clear expression of intent to harm. Further, what should concern us all is that the government asked for and was granted a ridiculously broad subpoena based on someone’s judgment that violence against jurors was “hinted” in the first place!!! Just as alarming is the extent and depth of personal information demanded. By its self, this incident could simply signify one overly cautious prosecutor. Taken as part of the big picture and national trends this tells us that we should expect two things: Intrusion into our lives will continue to grow and anyone who engages in any kind of public dissidence can be targeted by Big Brother. –SJM

Why Does THE OBAMA Refuse to Bail California?

June 18, 2009 on 1:53 pm | In National Political | No Comments

Answer: Eventually, he will. I guarantee it. He will save it. He will own it. He will nullify its sovereignty. But the timing isn’t right for the operation. If he takes on California’s massive multi-billion dollar debt NOW, there is a chance that even the most beguiled liberal might doubt that there would be the financial wherewithal for nationalized ObamaCare. They might get spooked and bolt. So, Obama will hold California by the ankles from the penthouse balcony until he’s got control of our personal health in his pocket. Then he’ll make his move on an even more desperate State. Simple.-SJM

Obama and the Fly

June 18, 2009 on 1:50 pm | In National Political | 1 Comment

I’ve seen the video of Obama and the fly enough times to last me now. I’ve seen the drooling press in awe of his physical coordination and ability to multitask. Fine, fine. But I saw something else. I saw thee clear expression of a personality who eliminates pests or obstacles with deadly precision. That fly may as well have been Inspector General Walprin, or any corporate executive who might have displeased the Obama. Get in the way of the Obama and you’ll be swatted down- terminated… and it will all be done with aplomb and a charming but remorseless smile.-SJM

Enough Free Advertizing for Late-Term Abortion Mills

June 12, 2009 on 4:24 am | In National Political, Nebraska Political | No Comments

From local news outlets to national networks, even Fox, an inordinant amount of time has been devoted to the late Dr. Tiller’s clinic and how it will be staffed by Nebraskas’s Dr. Carhart. Alright already. These guys aren’t building an orphanage or saving puppies or something. This is a business. Dr. Carhart will take money from people to eliminate a baby that is a problem for them. It is a lucrative service industry- not a charity. Carhart’s been able to advertize that Tiller’s sordid little shop will reopen for business and he doesn’t have to pay for it. Maybe I could get them to give some free advertizing to The Cool Conservative catalog. I’m at least as deserving as Carhart & company.– SJM

Letterman and Maher- Maybe Conservatives Should Just Pity Them

June 12, 2009 on 4:01 am | In National Political | 1 Comment

I saw a glimpse of Letterman on some news show and for a moment thought I was seeing Bill Maher. Then I realized how much they remind me of each other. Of course we all get older- but they seem to be aging very , very quickly. But it is not just time passing we see in their faces- its anger, bitterness, even hatred! They look miserable and unhappy. I don’t think they go after the Palin family because of politics. I think it’s because Sarah Palin seems to be having a good time, genuinely enjoying life. I think Maher and Letterman would be just as snide, cutting and coarse in going after a successful liberal who appeared to be thouroughly enjoying her life. We’ll never know, though. They can’t find one.– SJM.

Cash for Clunkers- Where do the Old Cars Go?

June 12, 2009 on 3:51 am | In National Political | No Comments

As the Democrats push for some Cash for Clunkers legislation, I wonder about one thing. What becomes of the clunkers? Are they delivered to hughe government-run junk yards? Are they the responsibility of the dealers? Can they be resold? Will the government appropriate them and sell the,m overseas where they can continue to harm the environment and guzzle the world’s gas supply?

Rumor: Greenbay Protest Pushes Obama to Angry Outburst: “I Want the Fairness Doctrine , NOW!”

June 12, 2009 on 3:44 am | In National Political | No Comments

We don’t know if this is true- but the rumor is going around the Beltway that Obama was shocked and then angry to see hundreds and hundreds of angry citizens lining his motorcade route where adoring subjects should have been,. It is said that he gave a very stern command that they better find some way to shut talk radio down, immediately. He is also said to have instructed his people to do whatever they could make use of the “Halocaust Museum thing”. It is not hard to believe. We’ll be watching to see if there is any truth in it.

Standard Obama Procedure- Learn it!

June 11, 2009 on 11:25 pm | In National Political | No Comments

SOP (Standard Obama Procedure): He’s been around long enough now. The way he operates is becoming clear. We can begin to outline his process, methods and strategies. This is NOT about ideology. This is about the way he maneuvers as a political boss. Were he a Conservative, you’d find the same modus operendi at the crime scene.

1.) He force-feeds. He’s relentless. He is like that salesman who puts incredible pressure on you- the salesman who keeps telling you that you must buy NOW or the consequences will be dire.

2.) He overwhelms. He pushes multiple initiatives with aggressive urgency and simultaneously. His goal is to shut people down like a computer that’s been fed too much data at once. He hopes that those who are still engaged will be distracted, allowing bad programs to slip through.

3.) He is opportunistic. He is sharp and alert and constantly scanning for events that he can utilize to his own advantage. He is resourceful; able to make a crisis out of very little or nothing at all.

4.) He uses words as shields. He says he is not promoting “socialized medicine”. What he promotes will function much like socialized medicine but because he is a totalitarianist and not a strict socialist he denies not what his program is but what it called. He hides his intentions behind the denotations and connotations of words.

5.) He has stock phrases that he uses to manage public perception.
a.) Whenever he desires to push through a law or policy that is beyond his proper authority, he always makes a statement to the effect that he doesn’t want to take over, control or nationalize this or that because he is too busy- that he “has too much on his plate with China, North Korea” and so forth to want to control anything.
b.) Whenever he wants to do something but doesn’t want people to realize it he says he’s “not particularly INTERESTED” in doing it. A perfect example: as a candidate he said he was not interested in re-instating the Fairness Doctrine. Gullible reporters, pundits and even some Republicans reported that “Obama does not support the Fairness Doctrine.” Wrong. He said that the concept wasn’t the main issue attracting his attention at THAT time. In no way was it a statement of opposition to the Fairness Doctrine. He’s said he’s “not interested in running GM”. That only means he’s not excited about day-to-day operations, NOT the he opposes putting that or any company under his control. Trained underlings use similar ploys: “We’re NOT LOOKING at the UK’s health system” That only means that they are not singling it out for study now. It does NOT mean that it won’t be duplicated eventually, or, the Pay Czar “is not FOCUSED on pay caps.” That just means that it is not priority at that moment. It does NOT mean that it will not be his focus tomorrow.

5.) He uses derision against opponents. The more he fears them, the snider his remarks.

6.) He is not encumbered by the truth, by facts, or by a responsibility to give a true and honest picture of his agenda to the people.

Know your opponent. Learn to recognize and anticipate his moves. Never take your eyes away from him or, by extension, his administration. Learn to counteract his salvos before he can even launch them.—Sheila J. Murphy, Editor, the Cool Conservative web magazine, www.thecoolconservative.com

Stop Giving Obama Cover!

June 9, 2009 on 10:22 pm | In National Political | No Comments

(reprinted from the web magazine, daily Fix page wwww.thecoolconservative.com) A Roar from the Right-Daily  Battlefield Communiques for Conservatives on the Front Line:I saw Barack Obama cowering behind the shadow of George Bush yesterday- again. As we watch him dismantle the foundations of our economy it seems unbelievable that he thinks he can shift the blame for this collapse to his predecessor, but then, he has a lot of help in this regard from surprising sources.I believe it is fashionable – a bit of a fad- the cool thing to do- to include George Bush in the blame game for this mess.  We hear it from Libertarian and conservative pundits and "broad-minded Republicans. The Newt’s of the world jump on the bandwagon readily. All the third-party-power-wanabees cannot resist the temptation to roast a donkey and a pachyderm on the same grill. But is wrong. It is giving Obama cover he does not deserve and, again it is wrong. I for one will not parrot this mantra just because it is in vogue. I have often disagreed with Bush. But the truth is the truth. He did a masterful job with the economy after 9-11. Even though he had to maintain entitlement programs that he did not start- like Medicare and social security for a Baby Boom generation exploding into them for the first time under his term, – and even though he maintained a war on terror of a scope and expense that this nation has never seen and maintained two standard wars, and even though our country was hit by a devastating hurricane, George Bush did make visible efforts to contain his own discretionary spending and did oversee an economy remarkably stable.I’ve said it before and I’ll repeat: Bush’s biggest flaws were his failure to "sell" his actions to the American people and to be politically naive. When someone like Barack Obama talks about nonpartisanship, it is only feel-good rhetoric. Bush on the other hand actually practiced it. allowed many partisan Democrats into his administration because he believed that they would put Country ahead of Party. He was very, very wrong when it came to some people involved with the Treasury and Federal Reserve. Obama devotees like Geithner and Summers and Paulson took actions and gave counsel that led directly to the surprising and oh-so-conveniently timed economic problems that gave the election to Obama. No, It was not an accident. And although the original TARP was ill-advised, it was not designed nor intended by Bush to be more than a short-termed loan, nor was it the first time the government had stepped inin a temporary way, not intended to open the door to socialism, eg the steel and airline industries. No, ALL of these self-serving voices must stop now enabling Obama to share his guilt with Bush.  Bush dropped the patient off with a sore toe. The Obama adminstration has subjected the patient to dozens of unneeded major surgeries and  pumped him full of hundreds of strong, harmful drugs. The patient is now near death and the Obama doctors tell us they will put "sore toe" as the cause of death on the death certificate. You only have to read my other writings to know that I am a strong critic of the Republican Party, so I do not make this pleading for partisan reasons. It is for the good of the nation that I beg all of you out there who begin every condemnation of Obama’s fiasco with a condemnation of Bush, Stop. Just Stop. Obama doesn’t need your help. If you want to further your own political goals by continually trashing both parties equally, please find another avenue. This is the time to save our country- not personal political fortunes.– SJM

Marsha Blackburn to Iowa Crowd: Democrats are “The Party of Punishment”

June 8, 2009 on 2:59 pm | In Iowa Political, National Political | No Comments

Tennessee’s Congressional Representative Marsha Blackburn traveled to Iowa for a Pottawattamie County GOP event in Western Iowa. Addressing a full house, Blackburn delivered a full review of the liberal agenda being promoted by the Administration and their rubber stamp Congress. Blackburn’s remarks were replete with “zingers” and her own brand of southern humor. She talked of “economic child abuse” that is resulting in American children being born in debt stating we have the death tax this is “the Birth TAX”. Blackburn hit on multiple topics including her concerns over the decimation of American industry by Cap and Trade, the White House politicization and control of the Census, total federal control of “birth to job education”, veterans concerns, International security, GITMO, Nationalization of private industry and healthcare, and more! Blackburn talked about her frustration with people she calls “HOUFs” (hoof). These are “Holders of Opinion Unencumbered with Facts”. Great!– SJM
