Don’t Overestimate How Insulted Vets Should Be

When the President proposed that veterans be responsible for their own medical expenses, he was not just suggesting that these heroes use personal insurance to cover costs. Don’t forget- Obama’s ultimate goal is to do away with such private medical care systems. So- eventually., our veterans would not only be left to fend for themselves, they’d be in long lines for the possibility of public care, just like everybody else. Obama is quite the talker- but the very fact that he’d even consider this paints a vivid picture of how little he really thinks of the American Armed Forces and its veterans.

  1. I am a Vietnam Era veteran. When I returned to the United States, the anti- war movement mistreated people like me because we were instruments of a war they hated. When I attended my first orientation party at the University of Iowa, a fellow grad student told me when he learned I was a veteran, “you don’t belong here you fascist. We’ll get rid of you.”

He and his friends failed, but two years later after I had earned my MA with thesis and hours toward a PHD, I quit to farm after a job counselor told a Navy friend and me to hide our veteran status if we wanted employment.

Obama and his people are another incarnation of the Vietnam anti- war movement. They were willing to sacrifice our troops rather than ending funding or supporting the surge.Their strategy described by Rep Murtha as a “slow bleed” was to let the violence continue because it would be a good campaign issue against the Republicans. His trial balloon is merely an expression of how his ilk really feel about our military.
